Asante lets customers tip waiters, riders and other service staff straight from the M-PESA super app, by scanning a tip code or choosing a venue. I built the mini app and most of its tipping backend.
What I built
- The mini app on the M-PESA Mini Apps platform (TinyApp, in the style of Alipay mini programs): landing and discovery pages, "where to eat" listings, QR tip codes, ratings and tip receipts.
- The tipping API: mini-app sign-in, tip codes, favourites, transaction ratings and comments, balances and tip limits.
- Money movement so tips reach staff: STK Push and C2B collections in, B2C payouts out, processed on background queues.
- A companion Flutter app for staff with secure sign-in and lockout protection.
Stack: TinyApp mini program, Laravel, Flutter, M-PESA Daraja (STK Push, C2B, B2C), Redis and Horizon queues.
